This loco was built in 7/1944 with EMD construction number 2311. It was built as an FT A-unit, drawbar connected to FT B-unit SSW 910C. The drawbars were removed and replaced with standard couplers allowing for full independant operation of either unit. It was painted in the SSW's Confederate grey and yellow scheme, but was eventually repainted into the new standard for the time black widow colors.

Her alpha suffix was done away with when the FT fleet was renumbered in April 1949. She became SSW 913.

She was wrecked at Bakersville, MO on 06/07/1961 and sold to EMD for trade-in fodder for new GP20's in 11/1961.
