This loco was built in 02/1953 with EMD construction number 18163. It was built as a 1500 hp F7 B-unit. It was painted in the SP's standard for the time black widow colors.
She was sold to Amtrak on 08/07/1972. It is not known at this time when she was renumbered or repainted into Amtrak colors. She was assigned Amtrak number AMTK 161.
She was retired by Amtrak on 10/1975 and sold to EMD on 02/1976.
