This loco was built in 10/1949 with EMD construction number 7116. It was built as a 1500 hp F7 A-unit. It was painted in the SP's standard for the time black widow colors.
Her alpha suffix was done away with when the F7 fleet was renumbered in late 1949 as she became SP 6230.
She was retired and sold to GE (via Precision National Corp.) on 10/23/1964.
