This loco was built in 08/1949 with EMD construction number 6979. It was built as a 1500 hp F7 A-unit. It was painted in the SP's standard for the time black widow colors.
Her alpha suffix was done away with when the F7 fleet was renumbered in late 1949 as she became SP 6216.
She was retired on 03/19/1966 and sold to EMD on 04/07/1966.
