This loco was built in 08/1949 with EMD construction number 8201. It was built as a 1500 hp F7 B-unit. It was painted in the SP's standard for the time black widow colors.
Her alpha suffix was done away with when the F7 fleet was renumbered in late 1949 as she became SP 8114.
She was retired on 08/07/1970 and sold to GE (via Precision Engineering Corp.) on 09/23/1970.
