This loco was built in 07/1949 with EMD construction number 8196. It was built as a 1500 hp F7 B-unit. It was painted in the SP's standard for the time black widow colors.
Her alpha suffix was done away with when the F7 fleet was renumbered in late 1949 as she became SP 8109.
She was retired on 11/14/1972 and sold to Schnitzer Steel on 08/09/1973.
