This loco was built in 06/1949 with EMD construction number 8190. It was built as a 1500 hp F7 B-unit. It was painted in the SP's standard for the time black widow colors.
Her alpha suffix was done away with when the F7 fleet was renumbered in late 1949 as she became SP 8103.
She was retired on 07/09/1970 and re#'d to SPMW 8209 on 08/19/1970.
After sitting in storage for many years at CSRM, she was loaded onto a flat car for shipment to the Musuem of American Railroading at Frisco, TX on 10/06/2017. Plans are for her to be restored and repainted to match the museum's Santa Fe Warbonnet painted ex CN F7.
