This loco was built in 06/1949 with EMD construction number 7143. It was built as a 1500 hp F7 B-unit. It was painted in the SP's standard for the time black widow colors.
Her alpha suffix was done away with when the F7 fleet was renumbered in late 1949 as she became SP 8097.
She was transferred to the T&NO and renumbered as T&NO 541 (2nd) on 12/31/1952.
She was retired on 07/20/1970 and re#'d to SPMW 8206 on 08/19/1970.
