This loco was built in 02/1949 with EMD construction number 7105. It was built as a 1500 hp F3 B-unit. It was painted in the SP's standard for the time black widow colors.
Her alpha suffix was done away with when the F3 fleet was renumbered in late 1949 as she became SP 8079.
She was wrecked on 08/23/1961 at Patrick, NV and scrapped on 12/14/1961 by the SP at Sacramento, CA.
