This loco was built in 02/1949 with EMD construction number 6928. It was built as a 1500 hp F3 A-unit. It was painted in the SP's standard for the time black widow colors.
Her alpha suffix was done away with when the F3 fleet was renumbered in December 1949 as she became SP 6165.
She was retired on 03/17/1966 and sold to EMD on 03/21/1966.
