This loco was built in 12/1948 with EMD construction number 7078. It was built as a 1500 hp F3 B-unit. It was painted in the SP's standard for the time black widow colors.
Her alpha suffix was done away with when the F3 fleet was renumbered in late 1949 as she became SP 8052.
She was retired on 05/20/1966 and sold to EMD on 06/08/1966.
