This loco was built in 10/1948 with EMD construction number 7072. It was built as a 1500 hp F3 B-unit. It was painted in the SP's standard for the time black widow colors.
Her alpha suffix was done away with when the F3 fleet was renumbered in late 1949 as she became SP 8046.
She was transferred to the T&NO and renumbered as T&NO 501 on 03/04/1957.
She was returned to the Pacific Lines and renumbered to her previous identity as SP 8046 on 06/07/1961.
She was retired and sold to EMD on 12/14/1963.
