This loco was built in 10/1948 with EMD construction number 7071. It was built as a 1500 hp F3 B-unit. It was painted in the SP's standard for the time black widow colors.
Her alpha suffix was done away with when the F3 fleet was renumbered in late 1949 as she became SP 8045.
She was retired on 08/05/1965 and sold to EMD on 08/19/1965.
