This loco was built in 12/1947 with EMD construction number 4560. It was built as a 1500 hp F3 B-unit. It was painted in the SP's standard for the time black widow colors.
Her alpha suffix was done away with when the F3 fleet was renumbered in late 1949 as she became SP 8018. She was transferred to the T&NO and renumbered as T&NO 518 on 04/07/1950.
She was rebuilt as an F9M at EMD and renumbered T&NO 702 in 12/28/1954.
She was retired on 05/20/1968 and sold to EMD on 06/21/1968.
