This loco was built in 1/1955 with EMD serial number 20101. She was built as a dual engined E9 A-unit. She was painted in SP's standard for the time Daylight orange and red.

At some point in the late 1950's or possibly early 1960's she was repainted into the newly adopted grey and red "bloody nose" scheme for all locomotives regardless of passenger or freight assignment.

She was wrecked on 09/23/1967 at Bassett, CA (along with SP 6047,) retired on 10/25/1967 and sold for scrap to National Metals and Steel on 11/20/1967.
