SP 6011A

This loco was built in 12/1937 with EMD construction number 744 for service on the combined UP-SP City of San Francisco power pool and numbered SF-1. She was built as a dual engined E2 A-unit. She was painted in City of San Francisco colors to form a continuous matching train set.
She was rebuilt from her intial E2 configuration to and external appearance more closely matching that of a standard for the time E7 and renumbered SP 6011A. She was renumbered again to SP 6017 to remove her alpha suffix on 10/26/1949.
At some point in the late 1950's or possibly early 1960's she was repainted into the newly adopted grey and red "bloody nose" scheme for all locomotives regardless of passenger or freight assignment.
She was retired on 04/19/1966 and sold to EMD for scrap on 07/27/1966.
