SP 6000A

This loco was built in 4/1947 with EMD construction number 4152. She was built as a dual engined E7 A-unit. She was painted in the SP's Golden State red and silver paint, but was repainted into standard Daylight orange and red fairly quickly. She was delivered as part of an ABB set which included two matching E7 B-units numbered SP 6000B & C, but they were never drawbar equipped..

She was renumbered to remove her alpha suffix along with many other SP F-units and PA's in 1949. She became the SP 6000 on 10/25/1949.

At some point in the late 1950's or possibly early 1960's she was repainted into the newly adopted grey and red "bloody nose" scheme for all locomotives regardless of passenger or freight assignment.

She was retired on 01/15/1968 and sold to EMD for scrap on 2/1968.
