SP 4872
This loco was built in 5/1964 with ALCO construction number 3376-3 as one of a set of four ALCO demonstrator units. It was later purchased by the SP and assigned number SP 4872. It was built as a freight engine. It was quickly renumbered as an SP unit and ran in its as-build demonstrator scheme unti being repainted in standard for the time bloody nose colors. It featured a full 5 light headlight arrangement on the front and a single sealed beam headlight on the rear.
She was renumbered as SP 7102 in the 1965 system renumbering.
She was downgraded to heavy switcher status on 11/16/1973 and renumbered SP 3117.
