SP 4870:

This loco was built in 5/1964 with ALCO construction number 3376-1 as one of a set of four ALCO demonstrator units. She was later purchased by the SP and assigned number SP 4870. She was built as a freight engine. She was quickly renumbered as an SP unit and ran in its as-build demonstrator scheme unti being repainted in standard for the time bloody nose colors. She featured a full 5 light headlight arrangement on the front and a single sealed beam headlight on the rear.
She was renumbered as SP 7100 in the 1965 system renumbering.
She was downgraded to heavy switcher status on 04/22/1974 and renumbered SP 3126.
She was retired on 12/02/1982, sold to Chrome Crankshaft on 04/12/1983 and scrapped by 9/1987 at San Bernardino, CA.
