In 1969 Nalco Chemical Co. leased eight RailWhales, four from ACF Industries and four from General American Transportation Corp.  Built for motor fuel anti-knock compound service, these cars were originally blue and prominently lettered FREEPORT PLANT FREEPORT TEXAS 77541.  This car has had its Nalco logo and lettering painted over, but it still has its "return address."  Because of the high density of their cargo, anti-knock compound cars held 15,000-20,000 gallons less than most 8-axle tank cars.  All eight of these lasted less than 20 years, because the decline in the use of tetraethyl lead as a motor fuel additive made them un-needed for their original purpose and their small tanks made them inefficient for other commodities.
