This was one of the most interesting series of RailWhales, and the shortest-lived. They were DuPont's first 6-axle tank cars and the only ones with ASF trucks. In 1974 General American remanufactured the 72 remaing cars using the center eight sections of the original tank with new cradles, ends, stub sills and 4-wheel trucks. The rebuilt cars had a capacity of 26,200 gallons and a Load Limit of 184,000 pounds, and retained their original numbers.
Seventy of these 4-axle cars were sold to Invista in 2006 and received INVX reporting marks. After this sale, only three DUPX cars remained, with the last one surviving into 2010.
