This loco was built in 8/1971 with EMD serial number 37842. She was built as a freight roadswitcher, model GP40.

She became UP 679 in the early 1980's when UP merged with the Western Pacific.

She was sold for continued service and became CMNW 3014.

She became WC 3014.
