This page is dedicated to SBD's fleet of rebuilt GP16 roadswitchers. The SCL (under the Family Lines banner) rostered rebuilt, former GP7, GP9 and GP18 units, from a variety of sources. The first units were rebuilt by outside rebuild contractor ICG Paducah Shops as what they referred to as GP10s, however the SCL referred to them as GP16s. These initial units were given CRR reporting marks, as they were originally CRR units. Rebuilding then shifted in-house to SCL Uceta, FL shops for the next few units which were also given CRR reporting marks. Two of these units were originally ACL/SAL units but the rest were built as CRR units. The remainder of the units rebuilt at Uceta under SCL were given SCL reporting marks. When the Seaboard System was formed the rebuild program was still underway. Several GP16's were rebuilt with SBD initial and the remainder were initially given A&WP, GA or WofA reporting marks. The previously rebuilt locomotives which wore various Family Lines reporting marks were gradually remarked with SBD intials.
