This loco was built in 9/1952 with EMD serial number 17371. She was built as a freight engine. She featured a sealed beam headlight in her front and rear ends. As with all SAL GP7s, she did not feature dynamic brakes.

She became SCL 979.

She became SBD 979.

She was sold and became CFWR 979.
