These 40'-6", 50 ton, box cars were built by PS (lot 8330A) in 12/1957 as PS-1's. They featured 8' Youngstown doors and 3903 ft3 capacity. Car S&A 853 seems to have left the roster within a year of being built. Its fate is not known at this time. Two other very similar or identical cars (S&A 318 & 714) were purchased new on this lot fueling suspicion that they may have been wreck replacements. More research is surely needed.
