This loco was built in 12/1966 with EMD serial number 32590. She was built as a freight roadswitcher, model GP40.

She became UP 622 in the early 1980's when UP obtained a group of GP40 units from the defunct Rock Island.

She became MP 622 in the mid 1980's when UP re-assigned some ex Rock Island GP40's to the MP in yellow paint with MISSOURI PACIFIC lettering.
