This loco was built in x/1971 with EMD serial number 35661. She was built as a freight roadswitcher, model GP38AC with a high short hood.

She became NS 4141.

She was rebuilt to a GP38-2 and renumbered NS 5535 along with other former Southern GP38 and GP38AC units by the NS and given a new short front hood.
