NS 2001

This loco was built in 6/1966 with EMD serial number 31782. She was built as a freight hood unit, model GP38, with a low, short hood.

She was renumbered to SOU 2880 when the Southern absorbed the Norfolk Southern. The Southern quickly added a high short hood to her as per standard Southern practice.

She became NS 2880.
