This loco was built in 4-5/1953 with EMD serial number 17996. She was built as a yard switcher, model SW9.

She became IC 1243 in 1967 when the IC purchased the Mississippi Central.

She was converted to a slug in 1981 by ICG Paducah Shops and became ICG 55.

She became ICG PB5.
