This loco was built in 5/1965 with EMD serial number 29877. She was built as a test-bed unit for the upcoming GP40 line. She was given the model designation GP40X, but features little in common with the later GP40X units which were test-bed units for the upcoming GP50 line.

She became IC 3075.
