EMD GP40:
This page is dedicated to EMD's fleet of GP40 units. EMD built a group of twenty GP40 units in early/mid 1969 well into production of the model. I originally thought these units were GP40 demonstrators, but they were built three years into the production of the model. These units are referred to as "loaner" units. They were aparently loaned or leased to various roads possibly to be used while warranty work was done. More research is needed on this topic. Pics show the units in all black paint with only a road number. They eventually went to PC (15), TP&W (1) and MILW (4.)
