This loco was built in 12/1952 with EMD serial number 16962. She was built as a freight road switcher, model GP7 with a high short hood and no dynamic brakes.

She was retired, sold to ICG, rebuilt by Paducah Shops to a GP8 and became ICG 7983 in 12/1972.

She became CC 7983.

She became RSSX 7983.
