These 2-bay, 100-ton covered hoppers were built by AC&F in 7/1977. They featured round hatches, gravity-pneumatic outlets and 2980 ft3 capacity. They are the CF2980 variant with slightly larger stated capacity, but sharing the external dimensions with the earlier CF2970 cars, but NOT those of the middle CF2971 cars as per the following:
