USNX 3000-3169

Roster:

	USNX 3000-3169

These box cars were built by CB&Q Havelock shops in 1942-43.

The following information was provided via the STMFC Yahoo group (55983) by Russ Strodtz:

In 1942/43 CB&Q at Havelock NE built 170 box cars for the
	U.S.Navy. Car series USNX 3000-3169. These were 50'6" 100M
	cars.

These cars were built on the same underframe that CB&Q was
using to build it's mechanical designation XM-33 cars.
They used CB&Q truck design #65 with cast steel wheels from
Griffin Wheel. ASF supplied the truck frames.

Like many Havelock built cars these were partially built
in kit form. The clear door opening was 9' X 10 & 11/16".
Used Youngstown doors with Camel fixtures. Standard Railway
Equipment Dreadnaught ends and Evans Utility Loaders. Murphy
roofs, also from Standard Rwy. Equip. The car sides were
	Youngstown kits.

The braking equipment, draft gear, and safety appliances
were from CB&Q standard plans with parts either made up or
	from vendors.

The lettering diagram is not available.
