This loco was built in 12/1980 with EMD serial number 796396-8 as a freight roadswitcher, model SD40-2. She was equipped with Locotrol remote control technology as a Remote unit to work with a matching Master unit. She featured a lengthened "snoot" nose to accomodate the Locotrol equipment.

She became BNSF 6867.
