A roster of the Rr-56 class refrigerator cars is provided as follows:

These 70 ton, 44'-0" mechanical refrigerator cars were built by AT&SF Shops in 1955. It appears that this class was split into two groups with 189 cars and 11 cars for a total of 200 cars. More research is needed to understand what the differences are between the two groups and why they were split into two number groups.

In 1979, the Santa Fe modified a group of these cars by decomissioning and/or removing their mechanical refrigeration equipment, thereby resulting in insulated box cars. They were re-classed as Bx-202 class box cars.
