Welcome to the American Car & Foundry (ACFX) Freight Cars Page. American Car & Foundry built a total of 434 of their 4589/4600 ft3 Center Flow hoppers for their own fleet (150) and other customers fleets (184) from 1965 to 1969. Of the cars built for others, 131 were built for Shipper's Car Line (SHPX) many of which seem to have been acquired by AC&F at some point. It is not known how many of the 131 cars came back to them, but they can be easily identified as being the cars in the ACFX 46xxx series. Several other series of carbon black cars have been known to wear ACFX or SHPX reporting marks over time as well.
