Welcome to the Hooker Electrochemical Co. Freight Cars Page. Hooker operated a fleet of tank cars with HOKX reporting marks. They are also listed as operating cars with NACX reporting marks for Niagra Alkali Co. and HCPX reporting marks for Hooker Chemical & Plastics Co. Hooker was purchased by Occidental Chemical Corp. in 1968. They continued to operate a fleet of cars with HOKX reporting marks after the merger, however, it appears that the orange paint and billboard lettering were dropped at that point. It is undecided at this time if I will end coverage at the acquisition date, or continue. We will see as this page develops.
Hooker also leased cars with GATX and SHPX reporting marks which were also painted orange with the Hooker name. They surely leased others with either external connection to Hooker or possibly a simple, small lettering notice on the car side. It will have to be seen exactly how detailed I will get with that portion of this page, but as always, if you have further information or images to share, please do so. It would be much appreciated.
