Welcome to the American Smelting & Refining Locos Page. American Smelting & Refining operated a fleet of locomotives to switch their plant or plants. As far as I know, they were not issued formal reporting marks for their locos since they seldom if ever left the confines of their plant. So, I will use (ASARCO) to denote their locos with the parentheses used to donote that these are unofficial initials used here for clarification only.
They appear to have been assigned the reporting marks ASTX around 1974, however, that is much later than when most of the locomotives listed here were built, so I am assuming that these reporting marks were used for ASARCO freight cars.
