LDRR 1506

Louisiana & Delta locomotive 1506 is a former ATSF CF7, originally built as ATSF F7A 264L in Aug 1951. It was rebuilt by Santa Fe to as CF7 2521 in May 1974. It was subsequently sold to Allegheny Railroad as their engine 104. It was later relettered as Alleghany and Eastern engine 304 after the acquisition of the line by Genesee & Wyoming in 1992. It came to L&D in 1993 and was assigned number LDRR 1506, however, it ran for many years unaltered. It finally had LDRR 1506 painted on its cab in an effort to standardize the fleet. This was the blue engine with the rounded cab. It also had a unique, deep single chime horn that soudned like a tugboat.
