LDRR 1200

LDRR 1200
Louisiana & Delta locomotive 1200 is an EMD cab end switcher model SW1200, originally built as SSW 1062 in Jan 1964 with frame number 7696-1. It was renumbered SSW 2250 in SP's 1965-66 system-wide locomotive renumbering program. It was never rebuilt by the SP. It came to L&D in Mar 1987 and was assigned number LDRR 1200. At one time, it carried the name "City of New Iberia" on her cab. This name was later re-used on CF7 LDRR 1501. The name was removed and and the loco was leased out to switch the Sohio coke calcining plant in Lake Charles in Feb 1988. It returned in xxx 20xx to New Iberia however, was not used in revenue service. It was scheduled to be shipped off to be converted into a slug for use on another G&W line, the Meridian and Bigbee. There were problems with the unit due to its lack of alignment control couplers, causing a delay in departure, however, the problems were apparently corrected, as the unit departed behind the lead three locos on BNSF's Dayton, TX to CSX train on October 17, 2011.
