Shearleg 5000:

The Shearleg was one of those beasts that you just never forget. When in port in Morgan City, Louisiana, she could be seen for miles around. As far as I can tell, this is the largest capacity crane within the borders of the continental United States. There are other cranes of higher lift capacity working the deep waters of the Gulf of Mexico and overseas, but the Shearleg is the only one with the capability to navigate the shallow water bayous leading to Morgan City, the heart of offshore operations for the Gulf of Mexico. She spends most of her time performing loadout of offshore components at JRM's Fabrication yard. The theory is that an expensive, time consuming skidded loadout can be avoided since the module is typically pre-rigged for the offshore lift.
