This loco was built in xx/1977 with EMD frame number 766050-5. She was built as a freight engine. She was painted in standard for the time black paint with xxxx herald and featured a full a sealed beam headlight and nose-mounted gyralight on the front end and a sealed beam headlight on the rear end.

She was repainted into the Southern Pacific's bloody nose scheme with stylized Southern Pacific speed lettering and remarked as an SP engine after the merger of the SP & D&RGW railroads in 1988. She did, however, retain her D&RGW initials on the cab below her road number.
