D&RGW 5901-5924

The D&RGW purchased two groups of twelve GP9's each, but did not number them in a consecutive manner. Instead, the engines are arranged in groups of four road numbers each ending in the digits 1 through 4. The third digit on each group of four units varied from 0 through 5. It is not known why they did this, but suffice it to say that they did it like this for some reason. I would love to know the reason. If you know, please do share and I will update this space.
