American Car & Foundry's original design of the Center Flow covered hopper was to the cylindrical design. Several models of various capacities were produced. The CF3960 is often misidentified as a 6-bay car, but it actually has two outlets per bay. The other 3-bay cars featured a one-to-one relationship between bays and outlets.
